Approach
Damita brings a warm, curious, and collaborative approach to therapy, placing the therapeutic relationship at the heart of meaningful and lasting change. She works alongside each client, taking the time to understand their unique experiences, needs, and goals. Damita approaches her work through a trauma-informed and neuroaffirming lens, recognising the importance of creating a space where all clients feel genuinely heard and supported.
Damita is especially passionate about working with trauma, whether that takes the form of PTSD, complex trauma, or relational and attachment challenges, and holds a particular interest in working with survivors of sexual trauma. Additionally, she has a special interest in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) across all its presentations and works with clients navigating a broad range of anxiety-related concerns, including panic disorder and agoraphobia, social anxiety, health anxiety, death anxiety, and existential concerns.
She also works with relationship concerns, neurodivergent clients, and those navigating eating difficulties. Damita is particularly drawn to working with clients during times of change, uncertainty, and adjustment, and finds deep meaning in exploring questions of identity, purpose, and what it means to live well.
Damita draws on a range of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and CBT for Eating Disorders (CBT-E). She tailors her approach thoughtfully to the individual, integrating modalities in service of each client's unique needs and goals.
Experience & background
Her training and clinical experience have spanned a range of settings, including school-based therapy and hospital-based care as part of an allied health cancer service at Concord Hospital. Her work within the cancer survivorship team deepened her understanding of health and death anxiety, and the profound adjustment challenges that can arise at significant turning points in life.
Damita is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy (AACBT), and is an ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician.
